DJ, producer, kind soul and the enigma that is Claptone launches his own label, Golden Recordings, with inaugural single ‘Euphoria’ out on March 17th.
“I created Golden Recordings to celebrate House Music and its everlasting golden era. To revel in its strong roots as well as its diversity and open mindedness, which bring forth new sounds and flavors every day. May it continue for another eternity in this and at least 3294 other parallel universes.”
First single ‘Euphoria’ announces Golden Recordings with a bang, as Claptone fixes a classic keyboard riff to an anthemic house beat. True to the club scene focus of the new label, the track is a ready-made crowd pleaser, replete with intricate percussion, long snare build ups and huge bass-heavy drops.
“With all the great songs I have released recently and all the vocal-heavy productions out there today, I felt it was time to produce a straight up, fully instrumental club track, to start off my new label Golden Recordings properly. You could say I wanted to let the music speak for itself, and sonically evoke a feeling of intense excitement and pure bliss. It’s highly contagious, but luckily it’s ‘Euphoria’.
Claptone has dropped 3 artist albums ‘Charmer’ (2015), ‘Fantast’ (2019) and ‘Closer’ ‘2022’ over the past 8 years including singles like ‘No Eyes’, ‘Heartbeat’, ‘Under The Moon’, ‘Queen of Ice’ and ‘Just A Ghost’. Well known for his remix work, including his reimagining of Gregory Porter’s ‘Liquid Spirit’, his uplifting and vocal-heavy style of house has gone on to rack up millions of plays on YouTube, with his Spotify currently enjoying over four million monthly listeners. More recently he has remixed tracks from superstars Elton John, Dua Lipa, Gorillaz, Mark Ronson, Depeche Mode, Ava Max, Rufus du Sol, Pet Shop Boys, Michael Kiwanuka, Rag’n’Bone Man, New Order and more.
The Venetian mask-donning producer also launched the immersive and otherworldly ‘The Masquerade’ events in 2017, with guests including Fatboy Slim, MK, Purple Disco Machine, James Hype, Vintage Culture, Armand Van Helden, John Summit, Meduza, Faithless, Nora En Pure and Pete Tong joining the fun across showcases in Australia, South America, North America, London, Paris, Amsterdam and multiple seasons at Pacha Ibiza, to name a few.
Pacha has just this week announced that ‘The Masquerade’ will once again find its natural home there this summer, returning to capture an electric mix of authenticity, spontaneity and prestige with incredible production, creative decor and theatrics that draw on the club’s rich Ibizan history. Heralding the return of the illustrious golden masks, ‘The Masquerade’ will throw open its doors on May 13th, adding a decadent dimension to Pacha’s 2023 Ibiza programme.
Now with his own record label, Claptone is increasing his stratospheric reach of influence. If first release ‘Euphoria’is anything to go by, Golden Recordings promises to be home to some of the biggest club anthems in the house scene.
